Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2026
One Button Bedtime Stories ("the app", "we", "us") is a bedtime-story generator for
parents and children. This policy explains what we do — and don't — do with
information when you use the app or website.
The short version
We do not require an account, we do not run ads, we do not use third-party
analytics or tracking, and we do not sell your data. There is no advertising
identifier and no cross-app tracking.
What we process
- Story requests. The options you choose (character,
setting, silliness, length, optional moral) are sent to our server to
generate a story, illustration and read-aloud audio using Cloudflare Workers
AI. We do not attach your identity to these requests.
- Read aloud. When you tap Read aloud, the text of that
story is sent to our server and to a text-to-speech model on Cloudflare
Workers AI, which returns audio. If the story features your child's name,
that name is part of the text being read. The audio is played and then
discarded — we do not save recordings, and we do not keep the text of the
request. If the narration service can't be reached, your device's own
built-in voice reads the story instead and nothing leaves the device.
- Children's names. If you add a name so your child can be
the hero of the story, that name is stored on your own device and is included
in the story request so the story can use it — and, if you use Read aloud on
that story, in the text sent for narration. The name itself is never a field
in our database and is never used to identify you. It can reach our database
in one situation only: in the app, if you choose to save a story to your own
library, the saved story text is stored, and if that story features your
child the name is part of that text. See "Your library (app)" below. Stories
that name a child can never be published to the public library on our
website — our servers refuse those, not just the button — and the in-app
Share sheet is withheld for them too, so a child's name isn't sent through
another app. Clearing the name in Customize story, or clearing the app's
data, removes it from your device.
- Your library (app). In the One Button Bedtime Stories
app, tapping "Save to my library" stores that story's text and options in
our database, labelled with a random identifier created when you installed
the app. That identifier is not your name, email, device ID or advertising
ID, and it is not linked to you or to any other app. Only a device sending
that same identifier can read those stories back, and they are never shown
in the public library on our website or to any other user. Because you may
save a story that features your child, saved story text may contain a
child's first name. Deleting the app clears the identifier, which means the
saved stories can no longer be reached from a new install. If you want them
removed from our database, email us and we will delete them.
- Shared stories (website). On our website, tapping "Share
it with everyone" stores the story text and its options in our database and
shows them in the shared, public library that all users can read. Only
stories generated without a child's name can be shared this way. Shared
stories contain no personal identifiers — only the story and its
settings.
- Reported stories. If you tap "Report this story", the
reported story text is stored so we can review it for inappropriate content.
- Saved illustrations (device only). If you save a story
illustration to your Photos library (via the Save illustration button or by
long-pressing the image), the image stays on your device. We do not upload
it or receive access to your photo library beyond that save.
- Abuse prevention. To rate-limit our AI endpoints and
library shares we temporarily record the requesting IP address. These
records are pruned automatically and are not used to build a profile of you.
Subscriptions
If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple (App
Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on where you installed the app. We
receive confirmation of your subscription status to unlock features, but we do
not receive or store your name, card number, or other payment details.
Children's privacy
The app is designed to be used by parents with their children. We do not
knowingly collect personal information from children, and no account is
required to use the app. The one optional personal detail the app accepts is a
child's first name, entered by a parent so the story can feature them. As
described above, that name is stored on your device, is never a field in our
database, is never used to identify you, and can never be published to the
public library. It is sent to our server as part of the story text — to write
the story, to narrate it if you use Read aloud, and, if a parent chooses to
save that story to their own library in the app, it is stored as part of the
saved story text. Saving is always the parent's choice, and a parent who
prefers nothing be stored can simply not save personalized stories.
Data retention & security
Saved and reported stories are retained until we remove them. Rate-limiting
records are short-lived. Data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure.
